2014 in review

Farewell to Harlaxton

The time has come to leave the manor. The hardest part of teaching here is saying goodbye to the place, and especially to the friends we’ve made here! I was done with classes on Thursday, and my finals started Monday, so we took the train to Lincoln Friday to visit their big Christmas Market. Nice lights (but a little overloaded-the electricity went out several times). There was a fly-over by the RAF. Great food and drink booths among an ancient cathedral and castle.

London Christmas Markets

So, we took the train to London Saturday to do some shopping. We finally got to Harrod’s, which was very crowded, as expected this time of year.

Holidays at Harlaxton

We had a nice dinner for Thanksgiving: turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple pie & cobbler, etc. The next day they put up the tree, and students and staff decorated it. It is beginning to look like Christmas!
